Does Dairy Cause Acne?

A new medical study takes a look at whether dairy is associated with acne in teens.     I love love love skin and eagerly took three times the amount of dermatology training in medical school and internship than my classmates because I find skin so absolutely fascinating. More on that in a minute. But first, this study in particular peaked my interest because I am asked by patients all the time whether dairy is a trigger for acne. The Study (published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology in August 2016):   Researchers looked at over 220 …

Sunscreen May Not Reduce Melanoma Risk (Here is what can…)

A new study (presented at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting on Nov 19, 2016) shows that sunscreen did not have the ability to reduce future melanoma risk.   466 children (enrolled in the study at age 6) were followed for almost a decade (through age 15) and with a detailed report of annual sun exposure and sunscreen use as well as annual skin exams, which identified and documented skin lesions. This is the longest term study on new mole development ever conducted. And unfortunately, the results reveal that there was no association between sunscreen use and subsequent development …

Grounding Around EMFs and Dirty Electricity… A Medical Perspective

What happens to the human body when we are grounding indoors… around EMFs and dirty electricity? Give me a few minutes of your time to explain by clicking the video below:     I’m not a physicist or an electrical engineer. So I don’t pretend to know all there is to know about electricity, but I do know the human body. And I know how the human body is responding to being grounded, indoors, surrounded by EMFs, cell phones, wires, power lines, etc… all around. And the body’s response, hands down, every time, is to heal.   We know from …

Light Therapy Quickly Improves Libido

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so today’s medical study reveals a simple tip for boosting libido! Woot!   New research (presented at the 29th European College of Neuropsychopharmacology Congress on September 19, 2016) shows that the same light therapy recommendation to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) can significantly improve sexual satisfaction in people with low desire after only 2 weeks of treatment! While this study was on men, because light therapy is incredibly effective for females too, I truly believe that this would work for women with low sex drive and should be first line therapy for anyone with …
