Higher Morale, Longer Life Span

A new study shows that having a sense of optimism about your future actually helps you live longer… much longer!   Published March 15, 2015 in Age and Aging, the results are clear: a higher morale leads to a longer life.   Researchers looked followed over 645 elderly participants (85 years old and older) for over 5 years using interviews, assessments and home visits, and after adjusting for age, health conditions, mobility, functionality and other variables. Those with higher morale lived on average 5 years longer than their more pessimistic counterparts. If folks who are already 85 years old …

A Simple Tip For Navigating Life’s Ups And Downs

Life is full of ups and downs… … that is how you know you are ALIVE!   My daughter and I painted this original artwork together a few weeks ago. She inspired this artwork through a conversation we were having one night about how our own journey has had so many ups, downs, highs, lows, and beautiful amazing valleys of spaciousness in between.   The variable nature of life reminded me of our a heartbeat — the core of our heart chakra, the core of our ability to connect to others, the core of our own life force beating through …

Anxiety Ages You: 10 Ways To Reverse It

Published February 5, 2015 in the British Journal of Psychiatry, a new study shows that anxiety increases the rate of aging AND that treating anxiety helps reverse the aging process!   Looking at over 2,300 patients with anxiety disorders and matched controls, researchers found that those with active anxiety had shorter telomere length than both those with no history of anxiety disorders and those with adequately treated anxiety disorders. Scientific Proof That Mindframe Is Everything

Do you know what the single most important factor in long-term health is?   Is it drinking enough water each day? Is it eating only raw foods? Is it getting high quality sleep?   Nope. Do Not Give Up… Just Surrender. Surrender = Healing

This past week I was working intensely with several patients on the idea that surrender is sometimes the most healing, empowering, strengthening healing option possible.   Sometimes… to surrender IS to heal. Sharing with my patients why SURRENDER = HEALING reminded me of this blog post I wrote last year, and I had a nudge to re post it again today. Maybe you are the reader I felt that nudge for.   Maybe when life overwhelms you and cracks you open and forces your surrender, you are the one that I’m meant to remind today: surrendering is safe. The very …
