Thoughts On Health… seasonal allergies and the link to stress.

Part 4 of my “Seriousness is a Disease” series, today I discuss how prolonged stress physically changes your mucosal membranes and leads to a hyper-allergic response. If you missed Part 1 (brain health) or Part 2 (heart health) or Part 3 (joint health) give them a listen and catch up to speed on why I fervently believe that seriousness is a disease. Seriousness causes physical change in our bodies that are as damaging as most other diseases out there. I believe that when we led our lives from an overly serious vantage point, it causes us to live in a …

Ode to a blueberry

It’s blueberry season here… get ’em while you can!     My lovely friend the blueberry, how do I love thee? 1. I love thee because you are local and native to our country… the perfect food if you are looking to eat locally and eat healthy. 2. I love thee because you are loaded in fiber, vitamin C, manganese, and vitamin E. 3. I love thee because you are loaded in antioxidants, especially the anthocyanins. 4. I love thee because you can be frozen for storage and still retain full antioxidant powers. 5. I love thee because even …

The Energy of Menopause

I’m excited to sneak in a quick video for you today… ignore the ratty hair and the horrible angle (dang, do you have to see right up my nose???) I propped my phone up on a potted plant in my bedroom to get this video done quickly while the kids were happy playing. One of these days, one of them… I promise, I will actually blow dry my hair and wear something nice and put concealer on top of my random face splotches so you can stare at something other then my under eye circles and PMS pimples while I …

Thoughts on Health… Chronic Pain

Thanks for the wonderful feedback on the video I posted last week. If you missed it, you can check it out here. In that video, I presented the idea that disease is evidence of health. I used acute illnesses (like runny noses) and physical symptoms (like a tumor) to illustrate how physically expressing a disease allows movement towards health. I got several emails afterwards asking how chronic pain would play into that. So this video is really like part 2 — Disease as Evidence of Health… Chronic conditions. In it, I talk about what the energy of chronic pain represents …

Thoughts on Health… Disease as Evidence of Health

Yes.  I wrote that right.  Disease equals evidence of health.  Or at least the possibility of health.  Think I’m crazy?  Watch my You Tube video to hear me out. It’s my first attempt at a video, and I’d love to know what you think.  I would like to have a video on Thoughts on Health occasionally, as well as silly little things that would be far easier to show you on a video then write about.  Like… next time I henna my hair, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek.  Or next time I’m on an adventure with the …

Thoughts on Health… Toothpaste.

To use fluoride toothpaste or not… that is the question. Well, if that is the question, here is my answer… we don’t.   If you do a web search on fluoride, you’ll find a million and one articles ranging from rants on fluoride being rat poison to being responsible for causing sudden death in the dentist’s chair. Reading through those articles is almost enough to make me dismiss anti-fluoride claims all together and return to the *safety* of fluoride toothpaste. Almost.   Because after going through great pains to weed through the inflammatory and hyper-fear-based information out there on fluoride, …
